Watercolor class

Pretty much my entire time as a student  I avoided watercolor like the plague. Thank goodness for my school’s audit policy though, because I had a chance to rethink this prejudice this last semester and finally took a class in it. Surprisingly I’ve fallen in love with it.

I really started to realize how much I like it when I did a master copy of a Jill Barklem illustration (2cd above.) I also did a little experiment with one of my old Wee Free Men drawings and went over it in watercolor after using fixative on the drawing.

One of the things that I found I really love about watercolor is the portability of it. I spent a lot of time in and out of class doing some plein air pieces. I really enjoyed doing these and will probably be doing many more during the summer.
